ToyCHEST I allows up to 20 menus or applications on each
page. You are allowed to have Sub Menus and Applications
mixed on any page. Menus can be four levels deep.
With this configuration, you can have up to 160,000 titles.
Sub Menus are titled as "M" and Applications are titled
as "F".
If a title is password protected, a red bar will appear
beneath the Menu or File prompt.
NOTE ! All references to "Click" means to click your left
mouse button on the option.
-
Adding a Sub Menu or Application.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Click on the F1 Icon.
Click on Create New.
At the data entry screen:
Title: Enter a title for this menu or application.
~~~~~~
HotKey: This hotkey can be used to access this menu or
~~~~~~~ application using the keyboard.
Drive: Enter the Drive letter this application is on. Click
~~~~~~ on PgDn to list drives.
Directory: Enter the Directory that this application is
~~~~~~~~~~ located in. Click on PgDn to list Directories.
You may enter any number of commands you
like as long as you separate each command
with a carat character (^). Each command
will be executed separately.
Always include the file extensions (.COM,
.EXE,.BAT) when entering filenames.
You may also include a plus character (+)
immediately following any command. Including
a plus character will instruct ToyCHEST I
to ask the user for a command line switch or
parameter at run time. Any number of
commands may include a plus character.
You may also include the word "DROP" as a
command on this line. This DROP command
will instruct ToyCHEST I to drop to DOS.
Prompt: Any text entered here will be displayed to the
~~~~~~~ user at runtime.
Pause: If you want ToyCHEST I to pause and wait for a
~~~~~~ keypress after displaying the above prompt, answer
this with a "Y".
Password: Enter a password here, only if you want this menu
~~~~~~~~~ or application password protected.
Page 1
-
CAUTION ! Even blank characters can be used as
password characters so if you do not want
password protection, make sure no characters
or blank spaces are present here.
SHELL: Answering this with a "N" will instruct ToyCHEST I
~~~~~~ to totally drop out of system memory when executing
an application (the preferred method).
Answering with a "Y" will instruct ToyCHEST I to
execute this application through a shell to DOS.
With this method, ToyCHEST I will use about 60k of
system memory during execution of an application.
NOTE ! The SHELL method is slightly faster. Also if
you are running ToyCHEST I through another
GUI or menu you may need to use this SHELL
method to make sure ToyCHEST I returns after
executing a command.
MENU: Answering this option with a "Y" will cause this title
~~~~~ to become a sub menu title. You are allowed to have
sub menus four levels deep. If you use this title as a
sub menu, you need not enter any text or information
at the Drive, Directory, Command, or Prompt fields.
The HotKey will be the only active field.
Answering with a "N" will instruct ToyCHEST I to treat
this title as an application entry (File).
Icon: Enter the complete path and filename of the 256 color
~~~~~ Icon you want displayed with this title. Click on PgDn
to list the drive, directory and Icon list. When Icons
are displayed in this list, you may select one by
The Icon Painter Module.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Icons may be located on any drive or directory on your
system. Use the Path Icon to switch to the correct drive
and directory that you have your Icons located in.
This Icon painter should have no problems working with
icon lists of up to around 700 icons depending on your
system memory setup. The Icon limit is 700 Icons.
If you experience a slow down during the display of the
Icons, you may need to increase the buffers statement in
